MY BELIEFS AND REFLECTIONS

It is important to have a big picture or high-level view of organization where all systems are considered, including working with instructional staff, leadership staff, and technical staff in order for strategic projects to be successful. These groups need to work together under this leadership to identify the steps necessary in order to transform the vision for the project into a long range plan, complete with specific goals, objectives, and action plans. Critical thinking of a 3-5 year view involving a strategic approach that capitalizes on innovative learning, emerging technologies, planning and implementation steps are necessary. Reflection throughout the process and a frequent revisiting of core beliefs within the district vision needs to take place.

Working together with key leaders across the jurisdiction allows me to lead the district from vision to realization of strategic goals. This process includes assembling and leading implementation around researched best practices, specific tools and methodologies that support learning in deliberate, methodical practices as opposed to following the latest, greatest, shiniest new approach. In working with all stakeholders it is important that they understand the impact and need for well-coordinated implementation plans across the organization and various departments. This includes an understanding of pace setting, change management, associated risks, privacy concerns, potential security issues and mitigation strategies within the organization.

Mark responds as quickly as possible to questions and concerns, particularly when they involve the leaning needs or our students and the teaching and learning needs of our staff.Mark puts great purpose and thought into all that he does. Everything he does relates to the goals of the district and furthering educational goals.
~School Principal

Your strategic and innovative approach is both appreciated and dreaded by administrators. You hold us accountable. We know that you push us in the direction we need to go - even when the questions and directions are difficult.
~School Principal

Strategic, planned, and deliberate are terms that define the work that Mark does. Mark is the antithesis of compulsive.
~District Colleague

The Pre-Kindergarten and many technology initiatives are examples of your leadership style...highly collaborative and built on the "right" structures to ensure students are positively impacted.
~School Principal

I appreciate the degree to which you have shepherded new ideas through from inception to ubiquitous use. Good follow-through.
~School Assistant Principal
